This revised pattern removes the optional questions and extra time introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The optional part was a temporary measure implemented to address pandemic-related issues and was offered until 2024.
In a public notice, NTA stated: "The NEET (UG)-2025 question paper pattern and exam duration will revert to the pre-COVID format, eliminating Section B entirely."
Consequently, the exam will consist of 180 mandatory questions (45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology) to be attempted within 180 minutes (three hours). This removes the optional questions and extra time introduced due to COVID-19. The exam duration is now set at 180 minutes (three hours).
